ShareMyQurbani was set up in 2018 for people who wish to fulfil the Islamic guidance of sharing a portion of their Qurbani with the needy in our local community.
We are a volunteer-led organisation, and with the support of local butchers, community hubs and charity partners we have been able to establish a process to collect donated meat and distribute this to the most vulnerable members of our community.
It is often difficult to identify the genuinely needy amongst us, and even more difficult to work out how to get the Qurbani meat to them. ShareMyQurbani was set up to make it easy for people in the UK to ensure they can share their Qurbani with local families in need.
Since starting out in 2018 we have collected and shared over 8,700 kg of donated meat, which has been distributed by our partners in food parcels and as cooked meals. We have been able to expand our network to cover a wider area and are working to help set up teams in near-by areas so they can support their local communities.
We are steadily increasing our presence inside and outside of Manchester, our birthplace. For 2022, we now have teams in place to help people share their Qurbani across Greater Manchester, Lancashire, Merseyside, West Yorkshire, London, the Midlands and Cambridgeshire, with other areas in development. Please check our drop-off page for the latest information on where you can “ShareMyQurbani“.
We are always looking for volunteers who can help us with spreading the message, meat collection and distribution. If you are able to spare a little bit of your valuable time please do get in touch. We would love to have you on board.
If you would like to set up a similar process in your area then please get in touch and we will do our best to help get you started.
